FIRST IDEAS ABOUT JAN 19

JAN 19 -20 — two pieces of fast-moving Upper-Level energy will merge into 1 bigger system.

LOW pressure forms near the North Carolina coast. BUT the upper-level energy and the surface LOW never meet. So, this is a weak system.

The snow event will last 7–12 hrs at best.

ARCTIC HIGH pressure comes in behind the system with North winds on Saturday 20–35 mph. The cold will ease up JAN 22.

Let me emphasize again that third image is from the Tuesday 0z op-European and it has both short waves ( XY) merged over Virginia. In that kind of upper air pattern the main energy would fly off the coast rather quickly and NYC and New England might not get much of anything.

However I am skeptical that the big shortwave energy XY is actually going to be THAT far south.

(having XY energy track over southern VA would be great for ME in central VA but this isnt about what I want. The UNIVERSE and the laws of physics doesnt give a shit about what I WANT or Deserves. That aint got nothing to do with it) So IF ..IF …the XY feature was to say track over Northern Virginia and passes across the Delmarva then of course NYC and New England would be in a perfect location to get at least a few inches of snow and perhaps several.
