Snow numbers are going up for some
The early Thursday morning operational GFS model was catching on to the trend showing up from the high-resolution early Thursday morning 3KM NAM and HRR model. As I stated earlier both of these models have increased their snow amounts by 1–2“ across North Central Virginia including the northern Shenandoah Valley Washington DC and Baltimore Metro areas. Indeed some of the high-resolution short-range models are showing snowfall rates about 1 inch an hour during the height of the event in the early morning hours of Friday.
When you compare the snowfall forecast of the 0z THURSDAY GFS to the previous GFS model snowfall forecast you will clearly see an increase in northern VA the northern Shenandoah Valley northern third of Virginia Washington DC and Baltimore Metro areas and an increase in Southeastern Pennsylvania in around Philadelphia and Northeast New Jersey to the west of New York City.
